Little Steven's Virtual Classroom Tour

Little Steven is on tour, appearing in classrooms nationwide, from home!

Teachrock.org was conceived of first as an open educational resource--a virtual library to which teachers worldwide could come for free, high quality classroom resources. And several years after our launch, weâ€re a busy “library” with 45,000 registered users. Since 2019, however, TeachRock has been building a network of Partner Schools in which we develop long term relationships with teachers and administrators who offer us both proof of concept and constructive feedback to make the work stronger.

While remote education leaves much to be desired, it also presents unique opportunities, one of which is the ability to “visit” classrooms nationwide from home. Little Steven has seized the day.

Each week, Steven and TeachRock staff visit a classroom. Weâ€ve observed 2019 TeachRock Star Teacher Shawna Longo lead the “Drawing to Music” lesson with her first graders in New Jersey and Milwaukee Public School first graders consider the Girl Groups of the 60s. Stevenâ€s appearance in a California high school history class that was working on the “New York Underground” lesson became a Q&A session as well. And thatâ€s just a few of the experiences.

Overall, weâ€ve been astonished by the firm but joyful presences weâ€ve seen in the teachers that are keeping their virtual and hybrid classrooms functioning. Teaching was never easy, but the 2019-21 school years will be remembered as two of the most challenging ever.

And the tour rolls on! Steven has pledged one classroom visit per week until the school year concludes.
